Portfolio
This portfolio contains 5 projects that showcase my views, ability’s and passion.
Two Transformation design students are
tasked with making an audio-visual work
on empathy, set in the street where they
live. They discover they are full of prejudices,
presumptions and stereotypes.
Their self-inquiring stance leads to a view on empathy
that acknowledges shortcomings and vulnerability.
Join them in their journey towards a
critique of creating about, and for, the ‘other’.
The Park
‘‘WE SAT IN THE PARK
FOR OVER TWO HOURS
AND OBSERVED WHAT
WAS GOING ON. WE
DID SO BY ANALYSING
WHAT WE SAW AND
TALKING ABOUT IT.
WE DIDN’T FEEL PART
OF OUR SURROUNDINGS.
WE DIDN’T FEEL
AT HOME. HOW WAS
THAT FOR THE PEOPLE
WE OBSERVED?’’
License to kill
License to Kill is a developing project that challenges our present meat culture. The general consensus is clear. The system in which we produce and consume meat needs to change. This concept offers a radically new system. With the tools of speculative design and future thinking, I have developed the basic framework of this concept. My future goals with this concept are to academically research the possibilities as well as create visual and immersive stories to explore the concept further.
Here you can see some work made so far within this project.

To be able to consume meat you need to get a ‘’license to kill”. When buying meat at your local supermarket, butcher or online you need to have a license acquirable at the central bureau for Agriculture (CBL). To eat fish, meat, or poultry that comes from live animals a consumer needs to show 4 competencies.
• Firstly: A consumer must have a basic understanding of the animal, its habitat & ecosystem and its ecological impact.
• Secondly: A consumer must be able to take care of the animal: Nutrition, Adequate housing, Regular veterinary care, Exercise and socialization and Proper handling and care
• Thirdly: A consumer needs to show that they can Kill an animal in the most stress-free and painless method available.
• Fourthly: A consumer needs to be able to butcher and prepare the animal. Focused on the use of the entire animal.
This future is based on assumptions and speculative thinking. The political and juridical challenges are enormous. However, I can see a future in an organization that provides this learning process. The degrowth of our agro-industry is a key step we need to take. In the Netherlands, several factors are at stake: ecological, economic, and societal. Everything and everyone will profit from a transformation of the system. The divide between the political system and society is in a dire state. Yet, insight into this divide is necessary for us to keep moving forward. This system ensures a collective and equal exchange of services, goods, and knowledge. As well as an understanding on important morals and values necessary for the survival of our planet.
PRIJS VAN SPIJS
A Collaberative project which is deeply bound with research around the complexicity of todays food systems and its pending problems. With the help of regenarative design, we aim to convey a simple yet powerfull message. Our choices influence the world, now is the time to make the good ones.
A lot is happening in debates around the topic of our food chain. Sometimes this makes it very hard to ‘digest’ the knowledge of how we want our food to be produced. The solution is not there yet, but there are a lot of investors, farmers, suppliers, makers, and designers who are trying to change for the future
The collective
Prijs van Spijs is a collective that aims to break the status quo around foodsystems using the power of choice and knowlegde. By translating complex problems into simple and meaningful solutions we aim to think about the potential of the foodsystem.
The grassroots of our collective lies in the concept of creating a helpdesk where people would have easy and transparent access to knowledge about food. However, this proved to be difficult for us at this time because we still have a lot to learn. We decided to create a collective where we work together with food professionals to create meaningful events to understand each other and have fair interaction.
The game
"PRIJS VAN SPIJS, The Game" is a collaborative board game that brings together characters from different professions and backgrounds. Players take on the roles of these characters, each facing unique challenges in their respective fields. From a graphic designer and a student to a farmer and a butcher, each character must navigate their professional and personal lives while overcoming obstacles and making important decisions. The game explores creativity, innovation, sustainability, and balancing work-life dynamics. the interactive experience among players encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration to achieve success in their chosen professions. We aim to challenge assumptions, debunk narratives and promote empathy among players. The game is intended to be played in every household, being a fun and educational experience that encourages players to interact with each other and engage in meaningful conversations about the food system through thought-provoking scenarios. This could be at tool used in other occasions, such as workshops, conferences, or meetings.
The future perspectives of Prijs van Spijs are broad and exciting. We plan on building and hosting a event called Daten met Eten in the beginning of the summer. Daten met Eten would be an event where people could get to know a food product and by engaging with it, they would also question their own habits and consumption. The invitation list included individuals from different backgrounds, such as farmers, designers, researchers, chefs, artists, and representatives from organizations such as the Embassy of Food. Moreover, by playing the game multiple times, we can develop it and make sure it is a tool that can be used in the industry but also outside of it to make a real effective change which will impact consumers, producers, and distributors. We believe that the collaboration between these three players is fundamental for a fairer industry and through our initiative we aim to start a conversation, an assembly where every individual feels free to share experiences, opinions, worries, new ideas and knowledge with each other, willing to step in someone else’s shoes. This is what Prijs van Spijs is about.

SHOPPERSHIELD
A Creative Concept development for an method and app to help defend yourself against consumerism
Collaborative project by Anne-Florance Deul and Pablo Teijeiro Fokkema
Shoppershield was the result of a two term long project revolving around writing a Manifesto in the social-political context as a statement to transform systems. The second part was starting a movement with said manifesto as a starting point. Our topic was consumerism.
With shoppershield you can learn how to defend yourself against the tricks of consumerism with gamification. Setting goals, earning awards, competing, and easy access to information around the topic of consumerism.
By using the same marketing tricks but flipping them for good we’ve created a concept for an application. It will use augmented reality and AI to scan and hide advertisements or temptations. resulting in points which help you progress in an award system.
